University of the Potomac (formerly Potomac College) is a for-profit higher education institution in Washington, DC, and Vienna, Virginia. University of the Potomac has an open admissions policy. Applicants (those who qualify) are eligible for both Pell grants and federal student loans. This university was one of 15 sites that made deceptive or questionable statements to Government Accountability Office investigators posing as applicants in 2010. The list included University of Phoenix, Kaplan College, Argosy University and 11 other for-profit institutions.

History

The University of the Potomac Board of Trustees announced its new President and CEO, Dr. Clinton Gardner in May 2013. Gardner had been a leader in higher education since 1985.

Locations

The university offers courses at two locations in Washington, DC and Vienna, Virginia as well as online. Both locations are easily accessible by public transportation, and the Washington, DC location is only a few blocks from the Tenleytown metro station on the Red Line. Note: The Tenleytown location has been closed for two years. Formerly located at 4000 Chesapeake Street, NW Washington, DC 20016

International programs

University of the Potomac offers a five-year international BA/MBA Program under a partnership with University of Business and International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. The bachelor's degree is completed in the first 3.5 years and the MBA is completed after one additional year.
