History
The college was founded in 1927.:69 It was originally named Los Angeles Baptist College and Seminary. In 1961, it moved to Newhall in Santa Clarita, California. In 1985, John MacArthur became the school president. The name was changed to The Master's College; in 2016 it became The Master's University.

Academic profile
The university is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It is one of approximately 105 members of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.
In addition to its biblical studies program, the university offers a one-year, intensive Bible training program known as "The Master's Institute".
Athletics
The college teams compete in the Golden State Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The college is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association. Sports include baseball, basketball, cross-country running, golf, soccer, track and volleyball.
Curtis Lewis, head coach of the women's soccer team, won the NAIA Women's Soccer Coach of the Year award in 2008. In 2009, Jim Rickard won the NAIA Men's Soccer Coach of the Year award.
Among other sports people from the college are Jerry Owens, Mike Penberthy and Erin Perperoglou (formerly Buescher).
