CourseGem is a Google Chrome extension which aims to make the online systems of various universities more accessible to their students. CourseGem is the 25th highest rated Chrome extension, out of over 50,000 extensions which are available in the Chrome Web Store, as of December 22, 2013. CourseGem auto-generates a drop-down menu with links to all courses to which a student is registered. It also automatically logs students into all of their school's online systems and supports all languages which any particular school supports. The extension also contains the selected school's links to the academic calendar, grading system, information system, student union, email account, learning management system, and school newspaper, where available.

Version History

Version 0.1 was released for IDC Herzliya. It automatically logged students into the school's Moodle system.

Version 1.2 added localization support.

Version 2.0 created a button in Google Chrome, which when clicked would generate a drop-down menu of all the courses to which the user was registered. The drop-down also included a list of links relevant to the university and its students. In addition, version 2.0 automatically logged students into all of the university's online systems.

Version 2.1 marked the first time schools other than IDC Herzliya were supported, as Emory University and the University of Maryland were added.
